‘‘This ‘Walking Woman’ fired with a slightly ‘volcanic’, rough surface, which I was rather pleased with (if unintentional!)…it seems to contrast well with her fluid motion, powering forwards or perhaps away …from or to, what? The trailing edge of her dress I stamped with a ‘sprig’ mould as an experiment.. it produced a carved stone appearance which is in contrast strangely, with the idea of soft, flowing fabric.
The volcanic surface was somewhat double edged in its rewards, in that it managed to stick slightly to the kiln shelf and caused her front ‘foot ‘to detach itself! Fortunately a very clean break made for an easy and barely noticeable restoration. I have tried to show this in the last 4 photographs.
The restoration is hardly noticeable, but owing to this she is offered at a reduced price from the full cost of £625.00.”
