This large sculpture is built hollow, from the bottom upwards. Using soft, thin slabs of clay the structure is gradually built. The slabs are fused together with fingers and tools and gently pushed and pulled to give the ‘woman’ form. She is made in a black clay and fired to 1220 degrees Celsius.
