Suffolk Hoopoe
We don't get many Hoopoes in the UK, around 100 a year. Most that arrive in this country are on their way to Europe from Africa in the spring and slightly 'overshoot' their intended destination. They make a soft 'poo-poo-poo' call, giving them their name. This was one such bird I stumbled across one cold day in Suffolk, near Snape Maltings.
Its' very exotic looking feathering made a striking contrast in such an English landscape.
