‘‘Running Dog and Tree’ is an earthenware glazed piece, designed to work on a mantelpiece or shallow shelf. The running dog is something I wanted to have a sense of speed and freedom, of when a dog runs with absolute abandon! The ‘owl’ in the tree is by contrast, very still and reflective.
This sculpture has a very small split in the bough of the tree, it probably developed as the piece cooled int the kiln. It won't get any bigger, but nor will it get smaller! Due to this, the sculpture is offered at a reduced price.’
