‘This small dish was inspired by the larger Bernard Pallisy versions from the 16th century . I was really pleased with this when I modelled it, but there was then a delay in getting it fired. During that time, it got mixed up with other work and was wrongly packed into a kiln going to a higher temperature than the clay was suitable for! So, that is why it has this rather strange ‘slump’ in the centre. I still like it and was very much in two minds about whether to include it in this exhibition…..but, here it is. A chance to own an usual work, and one with a particular history.’
